What Is Bullying?
Students have been exposed to bullying repeatedly over time. The negative actions are cyber bullying, verbal abuse, physical abuse, indirect abuse, emotional abuse, harassment, and discrimination. Victims, who are bullied, are most likely not able to defend themselves.
Types of Bullying:
1. Cyber bullying: threatening and harming someone over the internet by messages
2. Verbal Abuse: Speaking negatively towards someone by name calling, humiliation, unwanted remarks
3. Physical abuse: using violence to hurt someone
4. Indirect: excluding someone from being in a group on purpose and spreading false rumors about someone
5. Emotional abuse: exposing someone to a behavior that result to psychological trauma
6. Harassment: upsetting someone repeatedly in a certain way ex. sexual harassment
7. Discrimination: Treating someone unfairly because of religion, ethnicity, belief, gender, etc
STATS:
- 9.4% students had experienced PHYSICAL bullying during their time at WHS
- 25% students had experienced VERBAL bullying during their time at WHS
- 13% students had experienced SOCIAL bullying during their time at WHS
- 1.8% students had experienced SEXUAL bullying during their time at WHS
- 11% students had experienced CYBER bullying during their time at WHS
